On my way to Incheon — the journey to Jeju starts here ✈️

There are two ways to get from Incheon to Jeju:

  • Route A: Transfer to Gimpo Airport (Recommended)
Most domestic flights to Jeju depart from Gimpo Airport (GMP), which is closer to Seoul. You will need to take a shuttle bus, AREX (Airport Railroad), or taxi from Incheon to Gimpo.
  • Route B: Direct Flight from Incheon
There are limited direct flights from Incheon (ICN) to Jeju. If your international flight arrives at a time that aligns with these, this is the most convenient option. However, flights are much more frequent from Gimpo.

2. How to Transfer from ICN to Gimpo (Route A)

If you need to switch airports, here are your best options. The distance is about 40–50km, and depending on traffic, the travel time can vary.

  • Airport Limousine Bus: This is the easiest way for those with heavy luggage. It takes about 40–60 minutes. Look for the bus heading to "Gimpo Airport" at the bus terminals outside the arrival hall.
☀️ Sunny's Tip Buy your ticket at the booth first! I once tried to just tap my transport card, but the staff told me to buy a paper ticket instead. It turns out they prioritize ticket holders, and you can only use a transport card if there are empty seats left. Save yourself the stress and just get your ticket at the booth!
  • AREX (Airport Railroad): This is the fastest and most reliable option, unaffected by traffic. It takes about 35–40 minutes from Incheon Airport Station to Gimpo Airport Station.
  • Taxi: Convenient if you have a lot of bags, but it will be the most expensive option. Make sure to download KakaoMap or Naver Map before you arrive in Korea. These apps are essential for navigation and will give you the most accurate taxi fare estimates and routes.

If you want a stress-free airport transfer without figuring out Korean transportation, you can also pre-book a private airport pickup service in English before arriving in Korea. It's especially convenient for families, first-time visitors, or travelers with multiple suitcases.

3. Sunny's Tips for a Smooth Transfer

☀️ Sunny's Tip Don't rush your arrival! Immigration at Incheon can take longer than expected. That 4-hour buffer is your safety net to grab a coffee, check your bags, and avoid the stress of missing your flight to Jeju.

💡 If you have a tight layover or feel nervous about transferring between airports in Korea, booking an airport pickup in advance can make the process much easier. Your driver meets you directly at the airport, so you can skip the confusion and head straight to Gimpo Airport comfortably.

☀️ Sunny's Tip Manage your baggage! Domestic airlines in Korea have different baggage policies than international carriers. If you are flying on a low-cost carrier (LCC), check their weight limits in advance to avoid extra fees at the domestic terminal.
☀️ Sunny's Tip You can bring your drinks! Unlike international flights, there are no liquid restrictions for domestic flights to Jeju. You don't need to throw away your coffee or water bottle at the security checkpoint. Just carry it through and enjoy your flight!
☀️ Sunny's Tip Never forget your physical passport! Even though it's a domestic flight, you must carry your physical passport to pass through the security gate at the airport. They will check it against your boarding pass. Please keep it in your carry-on bag, not in your checked luggage!
☀️ Sunny's Tip Don't miss the vibe of Jeju! Once you land in Jeju, you'll want to dive straight into your trip. Whether it's a rainy day, a seasonal activity, or you're planning your itinerary, check out this guide: When Is the Best Time to Visit Jeju? A Local's Guide
