Jeju 4-Day Itinerary for First-Time Visitors (3 Nights, 4 Days)
When people plan their first trip to Jeju, the hard part usually isn't deciding where to go — it's figuring out the best route.
There are countless sample itineraries online. Most try to squeeze in every famous spot. That usually means a full day of driving, or transit time that eats up the whole afternoon.
Jeju is bigger than most visitors expect. Covering the east and west coasts in one day is harder than it looks on a map.
I've driven these routes many times over the years. I've also heard plenty of stories from visitors afterward about what worked and what didn't. What I keep coming back to for first-timers is simple: one region per day.
This itinerary is built around a rental car. It focuses on the sights first-time visitors tend to enjoy the most, while keeping driving time low.

Before You Plan a 4-Day Jeju Trip
The most common mistake I see first-timers make is cramming too many stops into one day.
Seongsan Ilchulbong in the morning, Hyeopjae Beach in the afternoon, Seogwipo by evening — it sounds doable on paper. In practice, the drive times alone leave almost no room to actually relax.
This itinerary moves in one direction: west → south → east → Jeju City. No backtracking across the island. Just more room to enjoy the trip itself.
Day 1 | Starting in West Jeju

You'll probably be tired from the flight. That's exactly why I always ease into the trip with the west coast — it's a manageable first day.
Grab a coffee along Aewol Cafe Street. Then walk part of the Handam Coastal Walk, a paved path that runs right along the water.
From there, head to the Osulloc Tea Museum to walk through its green tea fields. Go earlier in the afternoon — it gets crowded later on.
Close out the day at Hyeopjae Beach — one of Jeju's signature sunset spots. There's really no better way to end the first day.
Day 2 | South Jeju's Natural Landmarks

Jusangjeolli Cliff → Cheonjiyeon Falls → Oedolgae Rock → Soesokkak → Seogwipo Maeil Olle Market
Day two is dedicated to some of Jeju's most spectacular natural landscapes, all in and around Seogwipo.
Start at Jusangjeolli Cliff — hexagonal basalt columns formed by lava that cooled rapidly against the sea. Then walk over to Cheonjiyeon Falls, a cool, tucked-away waterfall just a short stroll from the parking area.
Take a walk out to Oedolgae Rock, a lone stone pillar rising out of the sea — one of Jeju's most photographed coastal views.
In the afternoon, stop by Soesokkak to see its emerald-green tidal waters. In the evening, head to Seogwipo Maeil Olle Market — a covered street market that's a good spot to try heukdwaeji (Jeju black pork), ddaksaeu (a small local shrimp variety), and hanchi (a type of small squid unique to Jeju waters).
Day 3 | East Jeju's Signature Sights

Seongsan Ilchulbong → Gwangchigi Beach → Seopjikoji → Manjanggul Cave → Hamdeok Beach
Day three covers Jeju's best-known eastern landmarks.
Go early to Seongsan Ilchulbong — it's noticeably quieter, and the view from the crater rim is one of the most iconic in Jeju. Gwangchigi Beach sits right next to it and pairs well as a stop: the beach frames the peak in the background in a way that's hard to capture anywhere else.
From there, Seopjikoji offers wide grassy fields meeting the sea — a landscape that feels distinctly Jeju. If it's open, Manjanggul Cave, a UNESCO World Heritage lava tube, is worth the detour. Walking through the cool underground tunnel is a completely different way to experience the island's volcanic origins.
I'd spend the last night at Hamdeok Beach. Clear water, cafes, and good food all in one place — it's consistently one of the highest-rated stops for first-time visitors.
Day 4 | Ending the Trip Without Rushing

Dongmun Market → Yongduam Rock → Yongyeon Valley & Yongyeon Cloud Bridge → Jeju International Airport
Spend the last day near the airport, so you can wind down instead of racing the clock.
Start at Dongmun Market, Jeju City's largest traditional market, for local snacks and souvenirs. Then head toward Yongduam Rock, close to the airport.
Yongduam is a lava rock formation shaped like a dragon's head. Right next to it, walk across Yongyeon Cloud Bridge and along Yongyeon Valley below.
It's only a 10 to 15 minute drive from the airport, so there's no pressure even if your flight time is getting close.
Why I'd Book One Base for All 3 Nights
My advice for a first Jeju trip is simple: stay in one place for all three nights instead of switching hotels each day.
You spend less time packing and unpacking. Check-in and check-out times won't interrupt your schedule.
Jeju City is the easiest base. It's close to the airport, and close to Dongmun Market and Yongduam Rock for a smooth last day.
Aewol or Hamdeok work well too, if you'd rather stay closer to the coast. Both have plenty of stays, cafes, and restaurants, and the airport is still only about a 30 to 40 minute drive.
A Few More Tips for This Trip
- Book your rental car at least 2 to 3 weeks ahead for better availability.
- Visit popular spots early in the morning — they get crowded fast.
- Jeju's weather changes often, so pack a light jacket even in warmer months.
- Avoid trying to cover the east and west coasts in the same day.
- Sunset times shift with the season, so check ahead if you want to catch the best light.
Most of all, don't try to see everything. Jeju is a place to slow down. The less time you spend driving across the island, the more time you'll have to actually enjoy it.
