Of all of these, Jeju Folk Five-Day Market in Jeju City is by far the largest. If you're doing a long stay, it's worth going at least once — fresh fish, vegetables, clothing, farming tools, you name it. And the food alley inside is half the reason to go: a bowl of gogi guksu (Jeju-style pork noodle soup) or a piece of omegi tteok (a chewy Jeju rice cake traditionally made with millet and coated in sweet red bean powder) eaten standing at a stall is one of those quietly memorable moments.

For smaller markets outside the city — Daejeong, Hamdeok, Sehwa, Goseong — the sweet spot is between 9 and 11 in the morning. Vendors start packing up around 2 pm, so arriving late means an empty market. Even at the bigger city markets like Jeju Folk or Seogwipo Local (which run until 5–6 pm), popular food stalls tend to sell out by early afternoon. The earlier you go, the more you'll have to choose from.
